Foundation Course in Group Analysis

Turvey Group applications accepted until the end of April 2025 with fee of £1350 (full fee £1450)

Under the umbrella of Turvey Groupwork, Oxford will be providing this fully on-line Foundation Course in 2025-26 offering an interesting experience of theory and experiential learning which will offer a solid basis for your work with groups. This course is suitable for anyone who has an interest in working with groups, including mental health workers, such as doctors, psychologists, psychotherapists, nurses, occupational therapists etc., as well as counsellors, teachers, managers, probation officers, prison staff, voluntary workers, people who want to understand their Organisations and others.

The Theory: The Tuesday evening workshops provide an introduction to the psychodynamic theory underlying Group Analysis and groupwork. The Saturday keynote lectures with guest speaker will cover various topics pertinent to group process and theory whilst applying this to real group experience. The course handbook will be available upon application and registration will give you access to the IGA library as a student member.

The Group Experience: Gillie Ruscombe-King and Chrysi Kariotoglou You will attend one experiential group on a Tuesday evening and two during the Saturday.

Course Format:
Three terms consisting of two Saturdays and 6 Tuesday evenings.

Further Training The Foundation Course in Group Analysis can be used as a stand-alone course but is also a requirement for further professional development: via the Diploma Course, to qualify as a Groupwork Practitioner; or to become a Group Analyst by completing the Qualifying Course of the IGA.
